At KC Ballet School, we believe dance is for everyone, including adults with little or no dance experience. Our open division class schedule is flexible and teens/adults can take as many or as few classes as their schedule allows.
Classes are designed for teens and adults with varying levels or no experience, who are interested in the fun and fitness of dance. Classes are drop-in style and meet weekly. Students may attend any or all of the classes that suit their interests or level of ability. We have capacity limits on all classes. Please check Mindbody or give us a call to see if a class has reached capacity or not.

We offer Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced classes in Ballet. All classes listed include barre, center work, and stretching.
Ballet Bod is a Pilates-based and ballet-inspired fitness method, founded by Jenny Schmidt and designed for the ballerina within all of us. This graceful class is designed to help you strengthen your core, balance, mobility and overall strength. Come move with joy and purpose to feel better from the inside out.
Beginner contemporary aims to ground ourselves and find expression in movement. The class is an hour and a half. It will begin with a mindfulness practice which will lead into guided improvisation, encouraging you to explore your own movement vocabulary and warm up your body. The class progresses through center and across the floor with exercises honing our contemporary technique. The class will end with a longer combination using concepts explored throughout class within phrase work. Adaptions are encouraged and welcome in class! All bodies and people are welcome in space.
From hip-hop to jazz, Latin to lyrical, the choreography is fresh and fun for both new and experienced dancers. Each hour-long class consists of a short warmup, 10 dances that increase in cardio intensity, and a toning session. Each week students learn new choreography while continuing to work on 9 other dances.
BeMoved is a dance experience for adults of all abilities, featuring 18 dance genres. It's designed to inspire lifelong health, joy, and community.
Participants will learn a wide variety of fiery Flamenco dance steps, rhythmic hand clapping, and how to exude attitude.
There is no experience necessary for this upbeat introduction to Jazz dance. Filled with inviting and invigorating energy, each class includes jazz warm-up, technical combinations, progressions, and choreography.
Enjoy a full Pilates studio with state-of-the-art Pilates equipment. Regardless of your fitness level, you will feel comfortable in our private Pilates studio. We teach ALL people.
Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance.
This quick-paced class is challenging with a mix of tap styles: soft shoe, Broadway, and contemporary rhythm.
Yoga is an ancient practice that involves physical poses, concentration, and deep breathing.

How to Register Online
Signing up is easy!
Class packs allow you to take as many different classes as you want or you may use them to take the same class week after week. We ask that when you arrive for your class, please stop at the front desk to check-in. Classes have a strict capacity limit, make sure to sign up ahead of time on the MindBody app.

How to Register In Person
To register in person for dance classes for adults, please download and fill out the appropriate form to give to the front desk upon arrival. You may also arrive 15 minutes early to sign-up and complete the waiver before class.
Terms & Conditions
- A 5-class pack expires 3 months from purchase date.
- A 10-class pack expires 6 months from purchase date.
- A 20-class pack expires 12 months from purchase date.
- Students must check in with the front desk attendant before class begins.
- Online class reservations can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance.
- Class packs are ONLY available for use in dance & fitness classes.
- Class packs are non-transferable, non-refundable.
- KCBS is not responsible for lost or stolen class cards.
- Classes with limited attendance are subject to cancellation.
Special Offers
- Parents of enrolled Academy students, current Kansas City Ballet subscribers, Guild members and BARRE KC members receive a 10% discount on 20-class pack for a total of $207.
- Currently enrolled KCBS Academy student rate is $14 for a single ballet class or $170 for a 20-class pack.
- Professional dancers and collegiate student rate is $14 for a single ballet class or $210 for a 20-class card.
