Matinees for Schools offers students and teachers the opportunity to experience Kansas City Ballet performances at a reduced cost. These field trips enrich education through stunning choreography, beautiful costumes, elaborate sets, and masterful music!

 

The Wizard of Oz

October 22, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.

Follow the yellow brick road as Septime Webre’s dazzling journey to the Emerald City returns. Swept away to Oz, Dorothy and Toto join three unexpected friends on a magical adventure to meet the Wizard, outwit a Wicked Witch, and find their way home. Bursting with inventive design, spectacular effects, and an original score, this award-winning production is a spellbinding treat for the whole family.

Students and Adult Chaperone Tickets: $12/each

For school groups at this special rate, one teacher/adult chaperone is required to accompany every 10 students that attend.

Recommended for 2nd grade and older. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seating begins at 10:00 a.m.

The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker is a two-act ballet based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. With vibrant costumes, elaborate sets, and Tchaikovsky’s iconic score, this classic follows Clara on a magical adventure through the Land of Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets.

Students and Adult Chaperone Tickets: $12/each

For school groups at this special rate, one teacher/adult chaperone is required to accompany every 10 students that attend.

New Moves

January 29, 2027 at 11:00 a.m. 

New Moves, one of Kansas City Ballet’s most anticipated performances, offers a captivating showcase of contemporary ballet. This exclusive production allows audiences to experience the next generation of visionary choreographers in action. Set in the 180-seat Frost Studio Theater at the Bolender Center, New Moves is an up-close experience for both dancers and viewers.

Pinocchio

Discover Kansas City Ballet’s Family Series with the hour-long, narrated version of Pinocchio. Follow the wooden puppet’s extraordinary journey as he dreams of becoming a real boy, encountering mischievous adventures, unexpected dangers, and life-changing lessons along the way. With choreography by Bruce Wells and performed by Kansas City Ballet’s Second Company, Pinocchio was designed especially for young audiences and is a perfect introduction to theater and dance.
