The Kansas City Ballet School’s Junior Summer Intensive is specifically designed with the young dancer in mind. This three-week program offers students a rigorous and comprehensive study of ballet technique and exposure to a broad variety of dance styles. All curriculum in this program is presented in a nurturing and positive environment at Kansas City Ballet School’s South Campus at Meadowbrook. Students will experience a truly unique program working with members of the Kansas City Ballet’s artistic staff and school faculty.

December 1, 2025 – Pre-registration for JSI audition opens
February 8, 2026 – JSI Audition
February 27, 2026 – Video auditions due
April 6, 2026 – Registration and deposit due
May 4, 2026 – Tuition balance due
June 1, 2026 – First day of the JSI
June 19, 2026 – Last day of the JSI

Invited students must secure their spot in the program by March 16, 2026.

Curriculum

All dancers will attend class Monday through Friday, 9:00AM-4:00PM. Students will be divided into three levels for classes.

Pre-Pointe or Pointe (prior pointe experience required)

Modern
Jazz
Contemporary
Progressing Ballet Technique
Pilates Mat

Tuition

Tuition $1,650.00
Non-Refundable Deposit (applied toward the total tuition cost) $275.00
Non-Refundable Registration Fee $75.00

 

A 50% refund of the tuition payment (excluding the registration fee and deposit) will be issued if a student withdraws from the intensive after April 6 and on or before May 4. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals after May 4, except in the case of an injury or medical condition as outlined below.

If a student is unable to participate due to an injury or medical condition, a 50% refund of the tuition payment (excluding the registration fee and deposit) may be considered when the family provides documentation from a licensed medical professional. This applies to qualifying injuries or medical conditions that occur before or during the intensive. The refund request and supporting documentation must be submitted promptly when the student withdraws from the intensive. Requests made after the intensive has ended will not be considered.

Intensive payments are specific to the intensive program and cannot be transferred, credited, or applied toward tuition, registration, or fees for any other Kansas City Ballet School program. Payments also cannot be held as a credit for a future intensive or other program.

Once a student has withdrawn from the intensive, any applicable refund must be requested at that time. Payments cannot be converted to a credit or applied to another program at a later date.

For tuition payments not received by the May 4 deadline, a $75 late fee will be charged.

Dormitory housing is not provided for Junior Summer Intensive students.

Will there be a performance?

Students will showcase their progress in an informal demonstration on Friday, June 19. This performance will take place at KCB’s Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity.
