Fundamentals - Age 5 - KC Ballet - Dance Class

Students must be age 5 by August 31 (firm age cut-off date)

Fundamentals - Age 5

Fundamentals will build the bridge between creative exploration and structured ballet training.

Classes meet once a week, with the option to add Children’s Jazz.

Fundamentals  expands on the elements and practices of Creative Movement. Quality of movement, the intricacy of patterns and expectations are elevated for the maturing child. While dance elements are further developed, imagery, musicality, creative thinking, spatial awareness, and teamwork continue to be emphasized. Classes meet once a week for an hour.

Performance Opportunities

WATCH WEEKS

KCBS hosts two annual watch weeks for families, one in the fall and one in the spring (see the school calendar for dates).

END OF SCHOOL YEAR PERFORMANCE

Students will participate in the annual Children’s Showcase held each May in the Frost Theater at the Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity.

The Children’s Showcase is an exciting celebration of each student’s growth throughout the school year. Performing on stage allows students to build confidence, develop performance skills, and share what they have learned with family and friends in a supportive environment.

Participation in the Children’s Showcase is considered an important part of the Academy experience, and all students enrolled in these programs are expected to participate. Additional information regarding rehearsal schedules, costumes, tickets, and performance details will be shared with families during the spring semester.
