Dance Class Level 1 Ages 8 to 10 - KC Ballet - Classes in Kansas City

Level 1 - Ages 8-10

Level 1: Where formal ballet training begins – and a lifelong passion takes root.

Classes meet twice a week, with the option to add Jazz 1 and/or West African 1.

Level 1 is the first level of academic ballet training. Students are expected to bring respect for the studio and a readiness to learn. Elementary ballet steps are introduced at the barre and in center, with a focus on stretching, coordination, and musicality as the cornerstones of each dancer’s developing technique.

*Students should expect two consecutive years of study for completion of Level 1.

Watch Weeks

KCBS hosts two annual watch weeks for families, one in the fall and one in the spring (see the school calendar for dates).

END OF SCHOOL YEAR PERFORMANCE

Students will participate in the annual Children’s Showcase held each May in the Frost Theater at the Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity.

The Children’s Showcase is an exciting celebration of each student’s growth throughout the school year. Performing on stage allows students to build confidence, develop performance skills, and share what they have learned with family and friends in a supportive environment.

Participation in the Children’s Showcase is considered an important part of the Academy experience, and all students enrolled in these programs are expected to participate. Additional information regarding rehearsal schedules, costumes, tickets, and performance details will be shared with families during the spring semester.
