Adaptive 1At Kansas City Ballet School, we believe dance is for everybody and every body — that’s why our Adaptive Dance Program is tailored to each dancer’s unique needs, making artistry and joy accessible to all our families.
The Adaptive Dance Program offers creative movement classes in an open environment for children and adults of mixed cognitive and physical abilities. Rhythmic activities, guided by our team, stimulate fine and gross motor skills and speech and language development, as well as sensory, visual and auditory processing skills! To ensure every dancer can fully participate, we offer a harness system for those who need additional mobility support. Class sizes are limited.

Kansas City Ballet School’s South Campus at Meadowbrook was designed from the ground up with every dancer in mind, not retrofitted for accessibility, but built for it.
Our adaptive harness system provides partial weight support, allowing dancers with a range of mobility needs to experience balance, movement across the floor, and participation alongside their peers, not as an accommodation, but simply as a dancer.
A universal changing table is available so every family can arrive and prepare with ease and dignity.
The fully step-free facility means there are no barriers between the parking lot and the studio for dancers, families, or mobility devices of any kind.
KCB School hosts two annual watch weeks for families, one in the fall and one in the spring (see the school calendar for dates).
All KCB School students have an end-of-the-year performance opportunity in May.
