2025 KCBS Adult Ballet Summer Intensive

Dance & Fitness in Kansas City

July 28th-August 2nd, 2025

We are thrilled to offer our Adult Ballet Summer Intensive, now in its second year, for dancers ages 18 and older, taking place at our South Campus at Meadowbrook!

Adult Ballet Summer Intensive

This intensive is meant for adult dancers from around the country to come together and enjoy a week of dancing and learning as a community. Our wonderful KCBS faculty will support your goals, providing top-notch training in an upbeat environment. Live piano accompaniment will be a part of most classes in the program. The intensive will conclude with the opportunity to participate in an optional in-studio performance, followed by an informal reception.

Levels of Training

There will be two levels offered at the KCBS ABSI. Whether you are a beginner with foundational knowledge of ballet or an experienced dancer looking to continue to grow as an artist, there is a place for you! An audition is not required. Simply note the level you think is the best fit for you, and we will confirm that with you on the first day of classes.

Focus of the KCBS absi

We will be exploring the past, present, and future of ballet. Classes will include ballet technique, optional pointe classes, variations, classical repertoire, and new work. Each day will begin with a mindful conditioning class to support dancer wellness, and each day will end with a thoughtful lecture on a variety of educational topics.

Making Plans

dress code

There is no dress code for the ABSI – wear what you are most comfortable with, as long as it is easy to move through class safely and without distraction. Ballet shoes are required, but outside of that, it is up to you.

what to bring

Plan to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, and packing a few light snacks is recommended. Participants may either bring their lunch or find lunch at one of the restaurants in the neighborhood.

Who to contact

Reach out to the South Campus Principal, Taryn Ouellette, at touellette@kcballet.org with any questions.
