Intermediate
The Secondary Division is designed for ballet students to continue to expand their education in ballet while introducing them to more diverse dance disciplines.
Students will enjoy the continuation of study in other dance disciplines such as jazz, modern, contemporary and conditioning. Many classes are taught to live piano accompaniment, a crucial element in developing the dancer’s understanding of the relationship between music and movement.
Requirements
Be available to dedicate 4 days a week to attending class
Students will expand their knowledge:
Performing with Kansas City Ballet
Academy students are eligible to audition for Kansas City Ballet productions where roles and ages vary. Casting of students into KCB Company productions is at the sole discretion of the KCB Artistic Director and not a guarantee.
End of School Year Performances
Students in Level 2 and up participate in an annual spring performance at the Kauffman Center. This performance is ticketed and open to the public, and all students are encouraged to attend.
KCBS also hosts two annual watch weeks for families, one in the fall and one in the spring (see the school calendar for dates).
