Daytime Program

The Daytime Program provides an intensive schedule for dedicated students looking to expand their dance education. Classes for these levels meet five days a week.

Pre-Professional Division Daytime classes are available for students on an audition only basis. Intended for middle school and high school students with alternative academic study options, the Daytime Program offers daily intensive training to prepare young dancers for a potential career in dance. Pre-professional training provides students who are motivated and passionate for dance with a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum. Daily ballet and pointe classes are supplemented with a rotation of other disciplines such as modern, jazz, contemporary, and flamenco, among other styles. Daytime students also will receive classes in variations, partnering, yoga, Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT), Pilates, and various seminars to enrich their ballet training.

Housing

We currently do not have dorms for students moving to attend KCBS year-round. Some housing options currently available to KCBS students include:

• Rent an apartment: Students may rent an apartment or Air B&B alone or with a roommate. Several apartments within walking distance include Crossroads West, Gallerie KC and Windows Loft, as well as many others easily accessible by bus or streetcar.
• Living with a host family: KCBS cannot help facilitate in finding host families, but some students have lived with other KCBS families or found people in the community willing to host.
• Parent supervised living: Some students relocate to KC with a parent. If you are interested in doing this and would be willing to host any additional students please contact school@kcballet.org.

Academics

Parents are responsible for their child’s academic education either through homeschooling or online school. We have some dedicated time built into the schedule which students should use for academic study, however, students should also expect to do academics at home in the evenings and/or on the weekends. We have partnered with the Metropolitan School for the Arts in Kansas City as an option for KCBS dancers to have some support for their online schooling. Learn more about MSAKC here.
