Kansas City Ballet’s Summer Intensive offers advanced training for aspiring ballet dancers through a curriculum rooted in classical ballet with exposure to a variety of dance disciplines. The program brings together the artistic staff and faculty of Kansas City Ballet with world-class guest instructors whose unmatched expertise helps prepare students for the demands of a professional career.
Dancers work alongside internationally renowned teachers to refine their technical skills, artistry, and career readiness—building strength, flexibility, and confidence in a supportive environment. At Kansas City Ballet, we educate not just the dancer, but the whole person, creating one of the most comprehensive and respected summer intensive programs in the country.
Audition & Tour Info
Kansas City Ballet’s Summer Intensive Audition Tour begins in January, visiting various locations across the country, ending in late February. Video auditions are also accepted for those unable to attend onsite.
Auditions are required to ensure proper placement and a tailored training experience. Register for an in-person audition or submit a recorded video.
Studio Experience
Kansas City Ballet’s Summer Intensive offers a comprehensive immersion into the art of dance, designed for intermediate to advanced students seeking to refine their technique and develop their artistry.
Over the course of five weeks, dancers train eight hours a day, five days a week, under the guidance of our world-class faculty dedicated to preparing students for professional careers.
Housing & Activities
Students attending the Summer Intensive can stay at the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI), conveniently located just 10 minutes from Kansas City Ballet. Boarding students enjoy meals on campus and curated field trips that make summer both fun and inspiring. This immersive experience builds independence, friendships, and a meaningful connection to the Kansas City community.
Cost & FAQs
Tuition and housing costs for the Kansas City Ballet Summer Intensive vary by program and housing selection. Limited scholarships are available based on merit and are awarded at the time of audition.
