🩰Kansas City Ballet School alumni Durante Verzola describes his piece as romantic and passionate, blending classical vocabulary with immediacy.
“I want to make work that showcases technique and individuality,” he says. “Live music enriches everything.”🎶
Durante’s world premiere is set to the first and last movements of Dvorák’s Piano Quintet No. 1, performed live by Company Pianist and Principal Academy Pianist Jordan Voth. 🎻 He will be joined by nationally recognized Kansas City-based string quartet Opus 76, returning to New Moves for the fifth consecutive year.

Second Company Dancers had the joy to perform at King Elementary, part of Kansas City Public Schools🩰
"This morning’s informance at King was a great experience for our students, many of which have never been to a ballet or seen `a real life ballerina,`" 💬 says Zandra Winfield-Jones, Manager of Student Experience.
With narration throughout, events like this informance offer a behind-the-scenes look at the artistry and discipline of ballet, with plenty of opportunities for audience participation.

"How do we prepare ourselves for the unfamiliar? I remember reading a line from a well-known interior designer to the effect that one should always include at least one antique in a space because it grounds everything else," 📝 Hilary Stroh for Bachtrack writes. "I feel much the same way when watching contemporary ballet."
New Moves is for the adventurous! Come on a contemporary journey with us Jan. 29 - Feb. 1 at the Todd Bolender Center for Dance & Creativity🌀
