
Joseph Boswell

Joseph Boswell, from Spokane, Washington, began his ballet training at age 7. After five years of training, he moved to Houston, Texas, where he trained at Houston Ballet Academy for three years. He then moved to Boston, where he continued his dance training at Boston Ballet School for three years, including the inaugural year of its Post Graduate Program. During his time at the school, Boswell received several named scholarships, including the Frank and Eleanor Pao Scholarship and the Mikko Nissinen Scholarship Award. He then joined Boston Ballet’s second company for two years.
Throughout his career, Boswell has performed principal roles including Franz in Coppélia, Conrad in Le Corsaire, La Vivandière, the Harlequinade pas de deux and Jorma Elo’s Slice to Sharp. He also danced alongside Boston Ballet’s main company in Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker, as well as Rudolph Nureyev’s Don Quixote.
Boswell’s Kansas City Ballet repertoire includes Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland), Devon Careny’s The Nutcracker and Swan Lake, Elaine Kimble’s Everything is Temporary, Anna-Marie Holmes’ Don Quixote, Lila York’s Celts, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Tulips and Lobsters, Durante Verzola’s Meditations, Agnes de Mille’s Rodeo, Geroge Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes and Septime Webre’s The Great Gatsby.
In 2026, Boswell choreographed Frantasia for Kansas City Ballet’s New Moves.
