Marisa DeEtte Whiteman
Joined KCB in 2018
Born in Stony Brook, NY, Marisa DeEtte Whiteman began classical training at Seiskaya Ballet. She continued her training in year-round programs at Next Generation Ballet, where she also danced in La Traviata with Opera Tampa, and in the Youth America Grand Prix Gala at Lincoln Center. She continued her training at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre where she also performed with the company and the Pittsburgh Symphony. Ms. Whiteman then spent a year training privately and was awarded top 12 in the Senior Classical Division at YAGP. After joining Kansas City Ballet, she has moved through the ranks of Trainee, KCB II, and Apprentice, to the Main Company.
Ms. Whiteman has spent recent summers performing at the Hermitage Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, Jacob’s Pillow where she was featured in Yury Yanowsky’s World Premiere at the Gala Performance, as a Stepsister of Cinderella (Misty Copeland) in a benefit performance and was also featured as Zelda Fitzgerald with Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance.
Since joining Kansas City Ballet in 2014, some of her favorite roles have included, the Bomb Squad in Twyla Tharp’s In the Upper Room, Kick Girl in William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, Pas de Trois in Devon Carney’s Swan Lake, Adam Hougland’s Rite of Spring and George Balanchine’s Diamonds. She has also taught ballet classes and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) for several years at the Kansas City Ballet School. This is Ms Whiteman’s 3rd season with the company.
