New Moves: The Broadcast Series

New Moves, Kansas City Ballet’s annual series exploring new ways of experiencing dance, took on a new meaning during the COVID-19 pandemic. New Moves: The Broadcast Series was a digital collection of site-specific performances that brought dance to the larger Kansas City Arts community. This extensive collection of never-before-seen choreography reimagines space through the digital medium. This series ran from February 18 to April 1 before being extended another six weeks from April 15 through May 20 of 2021. Viewing of the performances were available through August 22, 2021

Beyond the video performance, each episode featured behind-the-scenes footage and exclusive interviews with choreographers, dancers, and cultural leaders in Kansas City.

New Moves: The Broadcast Series was made possible by our series sponsors, the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Family Foundation, Virginia and William Shackelford, Dana Seeley and the Seeley Foundation, the Missouri Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
