The piece is an exploration of the use of the back as the foundation of a dancer’s movement. The interplay of the dancers’ movements with the space around them emphasizes our dependence on that physical space. Electronic dance music is rarely used in a ballet company’s repertoire and its use here seeks to starkly contrast different qualities of movement.

This work was part of Kansas City Ballet’s New Moves 2021 Series which was presented virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic; premiering one episode online each week. All original works were filmed in beautifully iconic Kansas City locations.
