Kansas City Ballet Board President CiCi Rojas stepped into her new role in July. She’s seen and overseen lots of changes in Kansas City in a variety of roles. She never shrinks from a challenge. As the 2021-2022 season kicks off, CiCi shares her hopes for coming year.
What do you hope for Kansas City Ballet and its Board for the coming season?
I hope for a recovery from the Pandemic, with Kauffman full and new audiences we attracted with our virtual performances in attendance and engaged with the Ballet.
How do you feel now that the company will be performing on the Muriel Kauffman stage at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts again?
I am excited to be seeing live performances, interacting with fellow Kansas Citians who are passionate about the arts, and to experience the beauty of the Ballet and our talented company.
What inspires you?
To experience the innovation that is emerging from the limitations we all have had to deal with in the last eighteen months. I am inspired by the renewed commitment in our community to tackle long standing issues that have held back new ideas and partnerships. We are in a window of great opportunity for better outcomes, across a diversity of areas that drive our community’s long-term success.
What drives you to make a difference, especially in these challenging times?
To try to continue to move forward and use the challenges as opportunities to re-imagine a traditional work and life routine. Every day presents a new opportunity for what you choose to prioritize. I choose a positive outlook, and to not waste precious time.
