Kansas City Ballet School hosted the 3rd annual Junior Summer Intensive program at their Johnson County Campus in Prairie Village. A total of 34 students were accepted into this highly-competitive, 4-week program for dancers ages 9-13 this year. A third of the students were from outside of Kansas City Ballet School and about a third were from outside of the KC area with some from as far away as New York, Oklahoma and Wyoming. This year’s guest teachers included: Duncan Cooper from Modas Dance, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and San Francisco Ballet; Megan Kimball from Boston Ballet School and a KCB Alumnae; and Parrish Maynard from San Francisco Ballet. In addition to their demonstration performance for friends and family on the last day at the Bolender Center, the group also was able to perform as part of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts annual “Future Stages Festival” on June 26th.
