Owen Watson
KCB II
Owen Watson was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, and began his ballet journey at 13 with the School of Ballet Arizona. While there, Watson performed in several company productions choreographed by former artistic director IB Anderson. Following his formative years at The School of Ballet Arizona, Watson further expanded his technical repertoire at Master Ballet Academy. There, he was trained in the traditional Vaganova technique and had the opportunity to learn and perform several different classical repertoires. Owen then attended the Houston Ballet Academy and spent two years in the professional program. At Houston Ballet Academy, he performed in various works by Stanton Welch, such as Bruiser, A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, The Nutcracker, and Romeo and Juliet.
Additionally, he participated in the academy’s spring performance of Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, further developing his technique and artistry. Since joining KCB II, Watson has performed numerous roles in Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland), Anna-Marie Holmes’ Don Quixote, Lila York’s Celts, and Devon Carney’s The Nutcracker. Watson also had the honor of performing Gaston in Bruce Wells’ Beauty and the Beast for the Second Company Family Series. Watson is beyond excited for his second year at Kansas City Ballet!
