Kansas City Ballet School’s Johnson County campus, located near 95th and Nall Avenue in Prairie Village, continues in its 14th year as a branch campus. The campus began as a private, independent studio by the name of Somerset Ballet and was owned by the late Jane Pierce. Following Pierce’s passing in 2001, Kansas City Ballet School acquired the studio. The location was opened as Kansas City Ballet’s branch campus in 2002, and was completely remodeled in 2015. As of 2016, the Johnson County campus continues to grow, and has 490 students. The campus offers classes for teens and adults in beginner, intermediate, and advanced ballet, as well as yoga and Pilates. For the Junior Studio Division (ages 5-12), classes offered included jazz/tap, ballet, and hip hop. The campus recently hosted the Kansas City Ballet School’s 3rd annual Junior Summer Intensive, which ended July 1st. Students of the intensive performed at the Future Stages Festival at the Kauffman Center June 26th, and also had multiple scholarship winners.
