Liam Colclough is originally from Duluth, Minnesota, where he began his ballet training at the age of 4 with the School of the Minnesota Ballet. His passion for dance led him to attend renowned summer intensives at Milwaukee Ballet, Ballet Austin, the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, and Ellison Ballet NYC.
In 2020, Colclough earned first place at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) regionals, which resulted in a full-tuition scholarship to the Joffrey Academy of Dance in Chicago. From 2020 to 2022, he trained at the Academy, developing his versatility through intensive study in character, classical, contemporary, Cunningham, and Horton techniques. During this time, Colclough continued to distinguish himself, earning both first and third place awards at YAGP regionals and advancing to the finals in Tampa as a representative of the Joffrey Academy.
In 2022, Colclough took the next step in his career by joining the Rochester City Ballet as a company dancer, where he honed his technique and deepened his artistry. From 2023 to 2025, he continued to expand his experience with Charlotte Ballet II, further refining his skills and versatility.
Some of Colclough’s notable performances include Soldier Doll and Candy Cane in Jean-Pierre Bonfoux’s The Nutcracker, dancing in Alejandro Cerrudo’s Lickity Split, and performing as the male lead in George Balanchine’s Who Cares?, staged by Patricia McBride.
Colclough is honored to join Kansas City Ballet as an apprentice. He looks forward to pushing the boundaries of his artistic growth and continuing his journey as a person, and dancer.
