2020-21 Trainee Profile: Brittany Focht

Q: TELL US WHEN YOU BECAME A DANCER?

A: My mom put me in dance classes around age 3 to help with how clumsy I was. As the years went on, I fell in love with the art form. I became a dancer because ballet is the perfect mix of athleticism and artistry which creates a feeling like no other when I’m on stage.

Q: WHAT DID YOU DO DURING THE EXPANDED 2020 OFF-SEASON?

A: During the off-season I got to spend a lot of time with my parents and little sister. We decided as a family to help out a nearby animal shelter. We fostered a dog named Nora for a few months until she found a home.

Q: HOW DO YOU STAY FIT OUTSIDE OF THE STUDIO?

A: I like to mix up what I do for cross training outside of the studio. That usually includes going to the gym, Pilates, and yoga. I also love to go on walks around the city.

Q: WHO INSPIRES YOU?

A: My mom has definitely inspired me in both my life and my career. She has taught me so much about never giving up even when people try to stand in your way. She’s proven to me time and time again in her own personal achievements that with hard work and kindness, you can do anything you want in life.
