2019-20 Trainee Profile: Sophie Hod

Q: IS THERE SOMEONE SPECIFIC THAT INSPIRES YOU IN YOUR LIFE AND/OR CAREER?

A:  My older sister Ashley is a dancer with the New York City Ballet and has been incredibly inspiring in my life and my career. She is the reason why I began dancing. Ballet has brought us so close and it’s really awesome to share our passion for this art form. As a dancer and person I look up to her in so many ways and am so grateful to have her in my life.

Q: HOW DO YOU STAY FIT AND HEALTHY OUTSIDE OF THE STUDIO?

A: I recently got into swimming and have loved incorporating that into my weekly routine. Swimming is my favorite cardio workout. I go to the gym as well as take yoga classes, too.

Q: WHAT ARE A FEW OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS?

A: Being with my family, Nutella, and epsom salt bubble baths.

I have five siblings that I’m really close to, so after moving away from home a 17, it is one of my favorite things to just spend time with my family. I love Nutella. I could go for a Nutella crepe at any point in the day! There is no better feeling than getting into a warm bath after a long day of rehearsals!

Q: WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE ON THE OFF SEASON?

A: During my off season I am typically home in New York with my family. I love to do yoga and spend time with friends as well. I am also super into cooking so during my off season I love to touch on that more when I have the time.
