
Jaime Hickey
Ballet
Jaime Hickey was born in Bayonne, New Jersey and received her early training at New Jersey Ballet while also training competitively with the DeNogla School of Irish Dance. Jaime furthered her training at Walnut Hill School for the Arts before moving back to NJ to complete her training at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at American Ballet Theatre (ABT) under the direction of Franco De Vita. While at the school, Jaime trained with Susan Jaffe, Martine van Hamel, Raymond Lukens, and Lupe Serrano. Jaime also trained privately with Fabrice Herrault and attended summer intensives at The Rock School, San Francisco Ballet School, Kaatsbaan, and ABT where she became a National Training Scholar.
Following her time at JKO, Jaime joined ABT II (now ABT Studio Company) under the direction of Wes Chapman where she toured both domestic and internationally. Jaime joined The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago in 2009 under the direction of Ashley Wheater. Jaime performed various corps, soloist, and principal roles in works by choreographers including Christopher Wheeldon, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Yuri Possokhov, Frederick Ashton, Ronald Hynd, Gerald Arpino, James Kudelka, and Julia Adam. In 2013 Jaime joined Ballet West where she performed roles in Swan Lake, Giselle, and The Sleeping Beauty.
During her performing career, Jaime completed the ABT National Training Curriculum becoming certified in Pre-Primary through Level 7, and found her passion in teaching the next generation of dancers. She was subsequently invited to join the faculty of the ABT JKO School Children’s Division. In 2019, Jaime moved to Sweden and joined the faculty at the Swedish National Ballet School in Gothenburg. Jaime and her family have since returned to the United States where she joined the Joffrey Academy of Dance Chicago (now the Grainger Academy) faculty. She is currently thrilled to be on faculty at the Kansas City Ballet School teaching various levels throughout the school. Jaime spends her summers on the faculty of KCBS Summer Intensive and the ABT Young Dancer Summer Workshop in NYC.
