Triple Play

Music by Francis Poulenc
Choreography by William Whitener
Costume Design by Lisa Choules
Lighting Design by Kirk Bookman

Triple Play is set to Francis Poulenc’s Trois Novelettes for Solo Piano. Kansas City Ballet’s Music Director Ramona Pansegrau played the third movement in the company daily ballet class that Mr. Whitener was teaching one morning. It’s a haunting piece based on a composition by Manuel de Falla. Later that night he found the complete recording of Trois Novelettes in his music collection. The first and second movements are also beautiful and the whole set has been described as “charm with a twist.”
