Choreography: Bob Fosse Music: Edgar Varese

It is a male solo danced to a percussion score composed by Edgar Varese. It was originally choreographed by director/choreographer Bob Fosse for his Broadway show, Dancin’, which opened in 1978. It was created for Charles Ward, who was on leave from American Ballet Theatre where he was a principal dancer. William Whitener (current Artistic Director of Kansas City Ballet) was the next cast member of Dancin’ to perform the solo. Mr. Whitener taught the role to Logan Pachiarz of the Kansas City Ballet. It was performed at the Lyric Theatre in May 2006 as part of the Kansas City Ballet 05/06 season.

Ann Reinking, director/choreographer of the Broadway show, Fosse, included the solo in that production. It was danced by many stars from the dance world including Desmond Richardson and Julio Bocca.
