Nutcracker Ball

Join us for the 55th annual gala!

December 3, 2022
The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center

Journey with us to the magical “Land of the Sweets” at Kansas City Ballet Guild’s annual gala, the Nutcracker Ball. We have so much to celebrate: Kansas City Ballet’s 65th season, the Guild’s 55th gala, Executive Director Jeffrey J. Bentley’s 25th season, and Artistic Director Devon Carney’s 10th season!

The Westin offers a lovely setting for delicious cuisine, a Land of the Sweets-themed raffle, and after-dinner music and dancing by the local band Lost Wax, featuring singer Eboni.

Proceeds from the Nutcracker Ball provide essential support for Kansas City Ballet. Making outstanding dance experiences accessible to all is a top priority for Kansas City Ballet. Your benefactor gift enables our company to perform beautiful classical and contemporary ballets by gifted choreographers. Your donation also benefits our award-winning Kansas City Ballet School and Kansas City Ballet’s extensive community and in-school educational and engagement programs, which reach more than 20,000 people annually.

Purchase tickets for the Nutcracker Ball Raffle, here.

In 2022, under the nine-member Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Committee, Kansas City Ballet is embarking on a deep and thorough examination of its operations, programming, and productions to advance our mission and vision.

2022 Nutcracker Ball Honorary Chairmen

The Kansas City Ballet Guild is proud to present Barbara and Greg Storm as the 2022 Nutcracker Ball Honorees. The Storms, both Nebraskans, moved to the Kansas City area from Michigan in 1994 and began supporting the Kansas City Ballet shortly thereafter. Additionally, they have provided longtime financial and volunteer support to many other non-profit organizations in our KC community, including the Kansas City Symphony, St. Therese North Catholic Church, Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, Harvesters, the Junior League of Kansas City, Life Unlimited, the Red Cross, Northland Miracles, and Morning Glory Café.

Barbara and Greg’s daughter Kaitlyn was an enthusiastic Kansas City Ballet student for 13 years, dancing in The Nutcracker for 9 of those years. Barbara has been a member of the Ballet Guild for 25 years, serving in many leadership roles, including Ballet Ball Chairman and Guild President. She has been on the Kansas City Ballet’s Board of Directors for 15 years, serving as head of the Operations and Finance Committee and Chairman of Kansas City Ballet’s 60th Anniversary Celebration. Barbara is currently the Board of Directors President-Elect, serving on the Moving Into The Future Campaign and The Bolender Society Committee.

Thank you to the Storms for serving this community for over 25 years!

Presented by Kansas City Ballet Guild

The Kansas City Ballet Guild was formed in 1961 by a group of KCB dancers’ parents to promote interest in and provide financial assistance to the company. Since then, the Guild has been integral to the success of the professional, world-class Kansas City Ballet. More than 170 members strong, these men and women enjoy special educational programming, exclusive access to company dancers, and have a lot of fun! Their activities also raise significant necessary funds for the company’s repertory, its community and educational programs, and the KCB archives.

Nutcracker Ball 2021

On Saturday, November 20, the Kansas City Ballet Guild presented the Nutcracker Ball at the beautiful Loews Kansas City Hotel chaired by Karen Yungmeyer and Tempe Ostergren Elsberry. Guests enjoyed a lively cocktail party, delicious cuisine, breathtaking decor by Craig Sole Designs, crowd-pleasing entertainment by Fountain City 45s, and a spectacular performance by Kansas City Ballet’s Second Company. Michael D. Fields, whose involvement with Kansas City Ballet has been long and noteworthy, served as Honorary Chairman. Guild President Peggy Beal and Kansas City Ballet Executive Director Jeffrey J. Bentley presented the 2021 Pirouette Award to Dr. John D. Hunkeler for his outstanding contribution to the Ballet.

The Guild also recognized Kansas City Ballet Executive Director Jeffrey J. Bentley for being honored with the 2022 Missouri Arts Award for Leadership in the Arts. This award for our state’s arts heroes, the people who make the arts happen, was given by the Missouri Arts Council and the State of Missouri.
