Michele Hamlett-Weith

Michele is honored to be part of the outstanding faculty of the Kansas City Ballet.  She is certified in BeMoved Methodology, Elite and Artistry repertoire.  Michele is also certified in Gentle BeMoved for adults needing movement in a seated environment.

Michele trained with Tatiana Dokoudovska (founder of the Kansas City Ballet) at the UMKC Conservatory and enjoyed summers training at The Paris Opera Ballet .  She danced with the young Kansas City Ballet and as a guest artist with several regional companies.   Michele worked with many legendary choreographers and performers including Leon Danelian, Peter Van Dyck, George Skibine, Marjorie Tallchief, John Clifford, David Howard and Helgi Thomassen.  Her credits include film, children’s television, television commercial work and industrials.  For 20 years, she was a dance studio owner and artistic director.

Michele served on the theater faculties at Johnson County Community College and Baker University teaching ballet, modern and jazz.  She is a familiar face in Kansas City philanthropy, having served as artistic director for the Keith Worthington Chapter of ALS benefits.  For 15 years Michele taught seated exercises for stroke survivors and their caregivers through the organization “Strokes of Support” at Saint Luke’s South hospital.  Michele was also a member of the fundraising team for the Tatiana Dokoudovska Library in the Todd Bolender Center for Dance and Creativity. 

Michele currently serves on the executive boards of the Friends of the Conservatory and the Women’s Committee for the UMKC Conservatory where supporting young artists through philanthropic efforts is essential. Michele is a long time member of the Kansas City Ballet Guild.  She is, also, a member of the Kansas City Symphony League and The Kansas City Rose Society.
