Jenny Schmidt

Jenny’s Pilates journey began at a young age as a compliment to her ballet training. What began as injury prevention, turned into a career connecting her passion for dancing with fitness. Jenny taught Pilates in Los Angeles for over ten years and started her own virtual fitness company, Ballet Bod, in 2016. With every class she strives to empower, motivate, and recharge her clients.  She loves her classes to flow, as you would in dance, with a focus on the mind-body connection.

Born and raised in Leawood, Jenny began her ballet training at the Kansas City Ballet School. She spent summers training at Miami City Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, The Chautauqua Institution and completed high school on scholarship from North Carolina School of the Arts as a ballet major. Jenny went on to graduate from Indiana University where she trained in the Jacobs School of Music Ballet program. While at IU she completed her 600-hour comprehensive Pilates Teacher Certification under Corinna Cosentino with training based on the original methods of Joseph Pilates. She graduated early to dance professionally with Colorado Ballet and also began her teaching journey. She went on to dance for State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara, American Contemporary Ballet, City Ballet of Los Angeles and freelanced as a dancer throughout Los Angeles. Jenny had the honor of training people in all different stages of their lives from pre/postnatal clients, athletes, actors, dancers, people with Parkinson’s disease, cancer survivors and students of all ages. She is a Pre and Postnatal Certified Coach through GGS and loves helping people find joy in their movement practice.

This KC native is thrilled to be a part of the Kansas City Ballet School once more!
