Anya Chiu

Anya Chiu was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and trained at The Washington School of Ballet. Chiu was accepted into the Trainee Program under the direction of Xiomara Reyes in 2022, performing alongside the company in various ballets including Julie Kent and Victor Barbee’s The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations. Chiu spent the summers of 2023 and 2024 dancing at The Chautauqua Institution, where she performed principal roles in Balanchine’s Tarantella, Donizetti Variations and Rubies.  

As a company apprentice with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Chiu performed in Trey McIntyre’s Peter Pan, Terrence S. Orr’s The Nutcracker, Balanchine’s Emeralds, Septime Webre’s Wizard of Oz, Michael Pink’s Dracula and Ben Stevenson’s Three Preludes and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In spring of 2026, Chiu danced in the world premiere of Garrett Smith’s Meet You at Midnight, and Mark Godden’s Angels in the Architecture. Chiu has also performed in public programs including The Kennedy Center’s Dance Day and Creative Intersections.
