The Performing Ensemble of the KCBS
The focus of the KCYB is on excellence in training and developing a pre-professional performance atmosphere for the dancers.
The goal of the KCYB is to promote the art of ballet through education and performance for the dancers and the community. KCYB is made up of dancers ranging in age from 13-18, who study under Director Kimberly Cowen, Associate Director Dmitry Trubchanov, and the faculty of the Kansas City Ballet School. The company presents two major performances each season and educational outreach demonstrations throughout the community, showcasing many original works by local and national choreographers, as well as new emerging artists.
Due to COVID-19 KCYB will not be held in the fall semester.
KCYB is comprised of students enrolled or enrolling in Kansas City Ballet School’s Pre-Professional Division by invitation only. Eligible levels for invitation are the Evening Program levels 6-8 & the Daytime Program levels II-IV. There is an annual fee to participate with KCYB in addition to Academy tuition. Auditions for the company are held in May. For questions, please contact Kimberly Cowen, KCYB Director.
