Kansas City Ballet is proud to partner with the Kansas City Art Institute. Located in the heart of Kansas City the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) is an independent four-year college of fine arts and design founded in 1885. Notable artists associated with KCAI include Walt Disney, who took Saturday classes there as a child, and painter Thomas Hart Benton, who taught there from 1935 to 1941. The beautiful campus is nestled in a historic neighborhood surrounded by two of the best art museums in the country, the Nelson-Atkins Museum and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art.
KCAI’s Barbara Marshall Residence Hall opened in January 2020. During the Summer Intensive, KCBS occupies an entire floor of the facility. The new Residence Hall features suite-style rooms with semi-private bathrooms and basic furniture.
The Wylie Dining Hall at KCAI is located adjacent to the Residence Hall. Food options are healthy and nutritious with a dancer’s needs and body demands in mind. Breakfast and dinner during the week and all weekend meals take place at Wylie Dining. Vending machines are available at KCB and KCAI.
Amenities in the Dining Hall include:
- Hot entrees
- Salad bar
- Deli bar
- Cereal bar
- Fresh fruit bar with yogurts
